With California enacting the new law AB 5, freelancers and independent contractors across the state are wondering what to do.
For many in our community, this law will have a huge impact, and knowing how to proceed is vital to staying legal.
This meeting is a chance for media professionals to learn more about the law, ask some questions, and get more information about how you can set yourself up going forward.

This is a joint meeting with SD Media Pros, San Diego Premiere Pros and San Diego Final Cut User Groups.
One other note - we're opening this meeting up community wide, and as the venue has limited seating if you plan on attending, don't delay in securing your ticket.
At this meeting, we hope to give you some advice and guidance from an employment attorney who is well versed on the law. He'll be there to answer your questions as well. While this meeting is aimed mainly at the media production community, everyone affected by this law is welcome to attend and ask questions. We're all in this together, so please feel free to attend regardless of what industry you work in.
About Our Presenter
Paul Batcher represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. He defends clients in litigation of claims for wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, whistleblowing, and wage and hour violations in both the single plaintiff and class action context. Paul also counsels employers on day-to-day employment matters and developments in state and federal employment law.
Prior to joining the firm, Paul worked as an associate at Cooley LLP, where he represented technology companies in complex commercial litigation and intellectual property matters.
